How SASSA Payments Work

Payment Order

SASSA pays grants in a specific order: Older Persons grants are paid first, followed by Disability grants, and finally Children's grants (including Child Support and Foster Child grants).

Payment Methods

You can receive your grant through various methods including bank deposits, Post Office cash payments, retail store cash payments (at participating stores), or SASSA pay points.

SRD Grant Payments

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 grant follows a different payment schedule. Payment dates are announced monthly, and beneficiaries can check their specific payment date on the SASSA SRD website.

Collection Period

While payments are processed on the dates shown above, you have until the end of each month to collect your grant. Uncollected grants may be returned and require reapplication.

Important Reminders
  • Always keep your contact details updated with SASSA to receive payment notifications
  • Never share your PIN or personal details with anyone claiming to be from SASSA
  • If your payment is delayed, wait 3 working days before contacting SASSA
  • Report any unauthorized deductions from your grant immediately
  • Keep your SASSA card safe and report lost or stolen cards immediately
