Understanding the Appeal Process

    Application Declined

    Your initial application was declined due to not meeting certain criteria or verification issues.

    Submit Appeal

    You submit an appeal within 30 days of the decline, providing reasons and supporting documents.

  3. 3

    Appeal Review

    SASSA reviews your appeal and supporting documentation. This process can take up to 90 days.

  4. 4

    Decision

    SASSA makes a final decision on your appeal. You will be notified via SMS of the outcome.

Appeal Status Meanings

Appeal Submitted
Your appeal has been received and is in the queue for review. This is the initial status after submitting an appeal.
Under Review
Your appeal is actively being reviewed by SASSA. Additional documentation may be requested.
Appeal Approved
Your appeal has been successful. Your grant application will be processed for payment.
Appeal Declined
Your appeal has been declined. This is a final decision and you cannot appeal again for the same period.
